I've got two lovely icons waiting for feedback from me, I have not forgotten <3 I'm going to extend this to the fourth. I think that'd be alright since I'll be wearing all of them about the same amount of time. I thought I'd give a few more folks a chance to get theirs in.
Last time I changed my icon I asked my followers to create a new one for me and then committed to 'wearing' each icon for a time. That went well! I'd like to do that again.
But why not make your own icon?
I get bored looking at my own art. I like an icon better if it's made by someone else because I don't recognize flaws in the work of others the way I do in my own. I've just found this is a fun way to interact with my followers that's also low pressure.
You must make NEW art for the occasion. You can't crop my existing art. It doesn't have to be high effort. It can be MSpaint. I don't care.
DA icons are 50 x 50px and have a size limit of 15kb. You have to fit within those restrictions.
Animated icons are okay but please nothing headache inducing. I prefer icons that don't flash.
Anything positive and appropriate is fair game. This is not a ploy to get gift art. I don't want to wear an icon of your OCs face, but I'm happy to wear a flower or a rain drop. You CAN draw my OCs if you want, but that is not a requirement.
It must be 100% your original work. It can't be cropped from the art of another person or pulled off the internet.
I can turn down any icon if I choose, without giving reason. I don't expect to need to do this, but I can see the need for the rule! (I wouldn't be interested in political or advertising icons, for example).
You only have three days. Sorry to try to squeeze this into such a short window. Its better if I don't get TOO many responses.
I will wear each icon made (as long as I find it appropriate) for one week or more. The time may vary because I can be forgetful or may want to cling to one for a little while. I will also include credit for that icon in my DA signature (like I do with my current one). I can't guarantee that I'll be very active while using your icon, so I don't know how much if any traffic you'll receive as a result.
If you wish your icon removed from my profile before the week is up just let me know. Otherwise I'll stay the course.
Just leave a comment with whatever you've made. Event ends June 4th at 8 pm central USA.

Still being copied.
Yeah, I’m aware that someone is copying my art pretty hard. I'd just like it to be known I'm not associated with it or okay with it. I don't mind when someone references my art to learn to draw noses or takes some inspiration. That’s how we learn and there’s nothing wrong with it. The situation I’m referencing is significant and continuous, and goes to an extreme most people never would. I've messaged them about it and they're blocked. No witch hunts, that's not what I'm here for. It's just become clear me that I can't ignore it. **I need to add that I've already sought advice from more experienced artists on how to deal with this. I appreciate it but no further advice is really needed.
Stored a bunch of art.
The N/F/T theft is turning into a daily chore to report, so I stored all art I could find that included characters that aren't mine (except for one or two people). To my knowledge none of that art has been reposted. The rest I'm undecided about.
Q and A: Did I take art classes/can I suggest any
Answering a question I got today- Edit: This barely answers the question I got. I went off on a tangent. Sorry about that. I did take art classes as a kid. I was lucky enough to have a private tutor, and I am very glad I had that experience. I appreciate the man who spent that time with me and gave me confidence. Without him I don't know if I would have enjoyed art as much as I have. He will always be one of my favorite people and I wish I had told him that when he was alive. He taught me the basics and some tips and tricks of traditional media, but the most influential thing he did for me was put me in a mindset where I would be willing to take constructive criticism from other people. I haven't had college classes. I would love to take them, I think I would benefit a lot. But most of what I apply to art I learned from books, admiring art that I enjoy (like comic books) and being around other artists. MOSTLY THE LAST THING. Being around other artists is without comparison. You can
I don't respond to live chats.
Just gonna... yeah. I haven't gotten any yet but I don't even keep up with DA notes. I will never respond to a deviantart live chat and have them muted. It's nothing personal and I enjoy chatting with people as a rule, but live chat on a setting like this isn't for me. Edit: I don't care that it is exists. Live chat is not for me on most platforms as a personal preference and if I can't disable it I make a note of my habits so no one feels personally ignored if they send me a message and don't get one back.

I was bamboozled, I finished this one seconds before you uploaded that new reference of Andy. I edited it a bit to resemble his updated design, though, but I don't think it reads as well. Curse dA's 50x50 pixel icon sizes. -shakefist- Ah, in any case, I hope they work decently enough, if you do end up using them. It was a neat exercise in composing small, haha.
