Ergot

Been working on ergot a little and how they work. I don’t have much hashed out yet! But most of them are looking like twinless twins. 

MOST of the time when a seed becomes afflicted the ergot spirit burns up and doesn’t survive, but it leaves its siblings with a kind of spark residue that manifests as mushrooms. Some cats can pluck them out and lead normal afterlives, and some can’t.

In rare cases, the spirit LIVES and manifests as another head and extra body parts. If they’re lucky. If they’re not, like Grib’s eye shoulder, they get dealt a pretty shitty card. Grib’s shoulder is just the eye and arm it's taken control of. It’s also mute, so it has to get creative with communication. (The ever watchful, finger snapping ‘HEY BOSS’ eye.)
